The 3rd Generation Semiconductor Industry Southern Base is officially settled in Dongguan. This is the 2nd establishment of the 3rd generation semiconductor industry base in China after the Northern base in Shunyi, Beijing .
The launching meeting of the 3rd Generation Semiconductor Industry Southern Base was successfully held in Dongguan on Sept.30th, Cao Jianlin - formerly Vice Minister of MOST and Director of the Decision Committee of the 3rd generation semiconductor industry, Yuan Baocheng - Vice Provincial Governor of Guangdong, Huang Ningsheng - Director of the Science & Technology Dept. of Guangdong Province, Liang Weidong - the Mayor and the Secretary of Municipal Committee of CPC, and some officials attended the meeting and unveiled the plaque for the 3rd Generation Semiconductor Industry Southern Base and Dongguan Southern Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd.
Liang Weidong marked the speech saying that Dongguan is at the crucial stage for a higher level of development at a higher starting point. Our city will pay great attention to the construction and development of the 3rd Generation Semiconductor Southern Base, put our best effort to fulfill the various kind of services and the construction work of the project settled, and speed up the complement and implementation of the guiding fund. As an opportunity, we will continue to vigorously implement the innovation driven strategy and speed up the attraction of the innovation project, the construction of the technological carrier and the introduction of the team and talents, to create a more superior city environment, scientific research environment and business environment.
In the meeting, The 3rd Generation of The National Semiconductor Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, the Science & Technology Dept. of Guangdong and the Dongguan Municipal Government signed a memorandum of cooperation to further promote the construction of the base. Hong Kong Applied Science & Technology Research Institute, Dongguan University of Technology, Songshan Lake CMC as well as CRRC, ZTE, TCL, GPT signed a cooperation agreement respectively with the Dongguan Southern Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd.
As we know, the 3rd generation semiconductor industry is the State's key support to the development of strategic emerging industries. It is the core of the new generation of power electronic devices and becoming one of the forefront and the direction of the global high-tech competition. After many years of development, Dongguan possess well-equipped, large-scale electronics information industries cluster. The city’s electronics information manufacturing industries have achieved 89.65 billion added value in 2015, and increased by 20.6% in the first half of the current year. Being the core of the electronics information industries, the semiconductor industry has also formed the agglomeration in Dongguan, and emerged a number of domestic leading enterprises such as Sino Nitride, TYSiC and others, laying a solid foundation for the development of the 3rd generation semiconductor industry. Settling in Dongguan will bring together a lot of 1st-class advantages of resources both from domestic and abroad, and will drive Dongguan electronics information and other industries continuing to transform, upgrade and promote the formation of new industrial growth and innovation growth.
